Introduction to Inka Mysticism

By Ron Gray

Elizabeth Jenkins author of "Initiation, a Woman's Spiritual Adventure in the Heart of the Andes", was here, in Huntsville, for a workshop and book signing at The Dream Maker June 26 through June 29. Her workshop on the Andean Energy techniques lasted for 2 and 1/2 days including a lecture on Friday night that was open to the public. Seventeen of us spent those 2 and 1/ days in a bubble of pure love that was so intense that most of us went through a period of mourning in the days afterwards. As took Elizabeth to the Airport that Monday morning I felt as though a life long friend was leaving. Visit her web site here.

The Friday night lecture was held at the Center for Conscious Living. On Saturday we went to Nature Trail on Green Mountain. This was where some truly remarkable things started taking place. Several of us were concerned about the heat, but it was not a problem. Click here to read about our own three-step Inca "Andean Path" Workshops.

We practiced bringing Sami in from above (imagine total love, like the love of Christ) and letting the Hoocha or heavy energy follow down our bodies through our feet into Pachamama. It felt as though the weight of the world melted off of me. As our energy bubbles filled with Sami, for me it was the beginning of the state of bliss I stayed in the remainder of the weekend. I felt warmth and love, expansion and oneness with my surroundings. I felt a part of the trees, the sky, the earth. I was at peace, in harmony ... I felt oneness with Pachamama ... I heard the crickets, the animals, saw the spiders dancing ... then there was silence, stillness, quietness. Birds came to watch. It was as if nature was paying reverence for what we were doing. It felt as though we were standing among angels. One of the most amazing feats of the weekend was that of Tani, the lady that is part of our team at the Dream Maker. Tani has had problems walking any distance for the past several years. She uses electric carts shopping and just has not been able to walk very far at all. That Saturday, Tani was trying. Everyone formed an energy worm behind her and helped her with the collective energy bubble. Tani was able to walk the entire trail around the lake on Green Mountain. This was truly a remarkable feat. She did this without pain and did not suffer the next day ... The week following the workshop at her yearly checkup, Tani discovered that she had walked the entire trail on Green Mountain — further than she had dreamed of walking in over 10 years on a broken hip.

Elizabeth teaches that the world is made up of living energy. Humans, mountains, houses, cities all possess a Poq'po or bubble of living energy. There is one law of the Inka tradition, Ayni or sacred reciprocity. If you give you will receive, and if you receive you must give. In this energy universe, Elizabeth teaches that all energy is useful if it is in the right place, that there exists no negative or positive energy , only heavier energy, or Hoocha, and more refined energy, or Sami. In the Inkan belief the physical body is a microcosm of the earth., and there is not a distinction between subject and object. In other words, they believe that there is no difference between you and the mountain once you connect energy bubbles. In Andean terms, to be in good health one would be in harmony within ourselves, nature and our environment. In other words, an illness would represent a disharmony within our world. Learning Journey on the Red Road
"Tokatakiya Iciskanpo"

FloydLooks for Buffalo Hand will be at The Dream Maker Friday 10-2-1998 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a book signing ... He will also be doing a teaching circle Saturday 10-3-98.

A Spiritual gift awaits You from Looks for Buffalo

New author and Lakota Spiritual Interpreter Floyd Hand (Looks for Buffalo) is the full blood Oglala grandson of Chief Red Cloud and Kills White Buffalo, a Cheyenne Oglala Leader. He has been featured on the television show "Unsolved Mysteries," and will be in Huntsville, Ala., Oct. 2-3 for a book signing and teaching conference in celebration of his first book, "Learning Journey on the Red Road.''

In 1994, Looks for Buffalo and his uncle, Jim Dubray, conducted ceremonies at the birth of the white buffalo calf, Miracle, born in fulfillment of Lakota Earth Change prophecies. The accuracy of predictions made by Looks for Buffalo regarding the white buffalo calf was the subject of an episode of the TV show "Unsolved Mysteries."

On Friday, Oct. 2, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Looks for Buffalo will greet people and sign copies of "A Healing Journey on The Red Road" at The Dream Maker Shop in the Main Street South Shopping Center, 7500 Memorial Parkway SW, Huntsville, Ala. "A Healing Journey on the Red Road: How to Live in Balance in an Unbalanced World" will be the subject of the teaching conference Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Light of Christ Center, 1402 Evangel Drive NW, Huntsville.

During the conference, Looks for Buffalo will explain:

  • The Teachings of the Seven Fires. The Responsibilities of the Four Races in relationship to the Medicine Wheel.
  • The Revelations and Insights shared with him by the Spiritual World, and how we can apply these teachings to heal ourselves and our world.

The new book "Learning Journey on the Red Road" is written in plain language from a "right-brained" Indian perspective. It is based upon Looks for Buffalo's traditional upbringing and the teachings handed down by his elders to deliver to the people.

A procedure — a Circle of Life — for anyone who has a desire to attain a higher level of learning, "Learning Journey on the Red Road" is about the spiritual beliefs that have sustained the Lakota people since the beginning of time. It is about the prophecies of the White Buffalo Calf Lady (the Virgin Mary) who came to the author in a vision with important messages for all humankind.

The Sacred Pipe teaches that we are now in the time of the "Seventh Fire" — a time of profound Earth changes. During this critical age, we must look to the traditional, holistic ways of North America and learn the common sense of bonding with Mother Earth and all living things. We must heed the warnings of the seven angels, like the angel of fire, "El Nino." And we must all come together in one mind, one heart and one spirit, it is too late.

There is no charge to attend either the book signing on Friday, Oct. 2, or the Saturday, Oct. 3, teaching conference. Both are open to all. In order to maintain the spiritual space created during the teachings Saturday, conference attendees are asked to come prepared to stay for the entire time. We also ask that those planning to attend pre-register by Sept. 21, so that enough space and food will be available. Monetary donations from the heart will be accepted throughout Looks for Buffalo's visit. Because of the generosity of donors who have funded Looks for Buffalo's trip, all donations given during the teachings will go directly to benefit the Lakota People at Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota.

Jerrine and I met Grandfather Hand a couple of years ago ... Grandfather is very honest and compassionate ... authentic but without ego. Please join us for his book signing October 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. His book "Learning Journey on the Red Road" is available at The Dream Maker.

Workshop with Juan Nuñez del Prado & Barbara Perrins

Juan Nunez del Prado is an internationally known and published anthropologist, Andean priest and mystic living in Cuzco, Peru with his family. Professor emeritus of San Antonio Abad University of Cuzco, he was a Visiting Scholar at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia during the Spring semesters of 1997 and 1998 and has lectured at Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Virginia and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. In addition, he has presented numerous workshops and seminars on the Andean Tradition throughout the United States and Europe.

Initiated into the Andean Path by two indigenous Peruvian masters, Juan has devoted the last 20 years to the study, practice and teaching of this belief system which is based on the spiritual traditions of the Inkas. An expert in Jungian psychology and a scholar of the world's major belief system, Juan is committed to opening the world of expanded consciousness and living.

A PATHWAY TO TRANSCENDENCE:   A WEEKEND WORKSHOP WITH JUAN NUNEZ DEL PRADO

Can Energy, Perception, Time and Dream Time be Triggers for Change and Transformation? What is expanded consciousness and how do we achieve it? How do we live consciously in the new Millenium? In this powerful new workshop, Juan will explore the use and meaning of energy for us personally, in our relationships with others and with the Source. He will also speak of the Inca Prophecies and their Meaning for us.

In Part I, Living Energy and You, Juan reviews the Andean concept of living energy and the meaning of apus and ayni. The group will work with the energy of wind, sun and water and learn how to use it for enhanced creativity, expansion of consciousness and potential and to stay connected to the Source. Juan then addresses the relationship of living energy to consciousness, with special emphasis on recognizing our personal patterns and imprints, (many of which have hindered our progress for years), changing these to achieve a more holistic way of life, reconnecting ourselves with our past and dealing more effectively with the difficulties we face in everyday life.

Several exercises, involving visualization and music, will help make this work personally meaningful.

In Part II, Juan works with Carl Jung’s three levels of consciousness to assist the group with taking a deeply personal look at individual identity, fears and blocks to creative expression, and to explore our personal power and potential. A powerful exercise, invoking the energy of Huascar Inka’s Lake Wakarpay, will help us look back, forgiving ourselves and others and beginning the healing process.

Part III, Energy in Relationships and Unthinkable Relationships, ends with a Kutichi, the Andean “house-cleaning” ritual which is practiced once a year, in August, and involves the cutting of all energy cords from our bubbles and the reconnection to only those filaments we welcome.

Sunday morning begins with Part IV, our relationship with the Great Spirit or the Holy One. After a brief discussion about the essence of the Supernatural being in the different belief systems worldwide, Juan speaks about the role of God in the Andes and about the concept of the Three Worlds, the Upper World, this World and the Lower World. The Four Windows exercise caps this segement.

In Part V, Fifth Level Consciousness – A Pathway to Transcendence, Juan talks about the Prophecies of the Incas and their meaning for us at the beginning of a new time. A joint commitment to 5 resolutions for the Next Century ends the teaching part of the workshop. A Questions and Answers period will follow.

Participation in this workshop is restricted to those who have previously studied with Juan Nunez del Prado and who have a thorough understanding of the principles of the Andean cosmovision. Participants should come prepared for the possibility of a powerful and transforming experience which can lay the foundation for the important personal and collective work ahead of us in the new Millenium.

Tape-recorders are not permitted. To insure a full and productive experience for each individual participant, Juan asks that you limit your note-taking

Fibromyalgia & Chronic Myofascial Pain
By Ron Gray

LMT Ala. Lic #36 Nationally Certified in Therapeutic
Massage and Body Work. Certified in Craniosacral
Therapy, Polarity Therapy and Reiki.
I am not a doctor and do not diagnose or treat illness

During the past few years I have worked on many clients suffering from Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome. Surprisingly, almost every single person has a horror story of often going through tests for years without a diagnosis. On average, according to the "Fibromyalgia & Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome: A Survival Manual" by Devin Starlanyl, M.D. and Mary Copeland, the Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) patient spends thousands of dollars and suffers for five years before receiving an accurate diagnosis.

Until recently (1987) the American Medical Association did not officially recognize Fibromyalgia as disease. "The Survival Manual" written by Devin Starlanyl and Mary Copeland in my opinion is a must for anyone with FMS. It describes in ordinary language what FMS is and provides information on some therapies that been shown to help.

Some people in the middle of a fibromyalgia attack can hardly stand to wear clothes. The weight of a tissue would be excruciating pain.

On these clients most of the time their backs are like hard turtle shells. I usually start with very light craniosacral unwinding on their backs. This involves very light placement of the hands on the back and following the patterns in the fascia. Usually in 15 or 20 minutes I am able to touch the back with the weight of my hand for complete unwinding and loosening of the fascia and muscles. If you can imagine a bed sheet on a clothes line, and grabbing the middle of it with your fist, twisting, you would see stress lines going to all four corners of the sheet. This is how I perceive most backs of FMS clients. It is like someone has twisted a giant knot, often covering most of their backs. While performing craniosacral unwinding of the fascia of the back, clients often report muscles releasing in their necks, shoulders, and hips. I usually combine craniosacral unwinding and still points with Reiki and light Myofascial massage for FMS clients. Most FMS clients find neuromuscular massage much too painful, especially at the beginning.

The bottom line is if you have FMS there are therapies that help. Please get the book and take some control of your life. If you don't come to me try other therapies in the book. I truly believe that you can take control of your pain and live a happy life.

In the Beginning was Wax
By David and Susan Daniels

I don't know just where to start, but I will try. When my wife and I got married in 1986 we both liked to have candles burning in the house. It was not until 1996 that I thought it would be fun to make our own candles. By this time, we were buying candles by the case. My youngest daughter and I went to the hobby store to get a kit for making candles. When we got home she and I made our first candle, a small floating one. Then we got the mold and starting to make them on the weekends. My father-in-law told me about aromatherapy and how it was used long ago to help cure different ailments, and help people when they were sick. I got a number of books on aromatherapy and started to study up on essential oils, where they come from, how they are made, and who used them and how.

That is another story altogether. I started talking to people who used the oils in their practice and holistic healers and asked what the oils, did for people. By mixing different oils together, trying them out on myself and the kids, as well as some of my friends that volunteered, with a lot of prayer, we came up with the right formula for the candles.

Then came the hard part: the color was important because color also helps the mind to heal with the oils and the scent. This was and is still an ongoing battle. People want different candles to do different things for them and I'm back in the books again looking for the right formula.

The candles grew from just something to do to have fun to a" love business". This is not a job that where I hate to go and work long hours, but one that I love to go to each and every day. We pray each day for guidance and help in the making of each and all of the candles, whether it is for someone's birthday party, new years party, weddings or to help in someone's healing. I ask God to help us make the best candle we can. I hope that God will bless us in the making of the candles. We here at Celestial Candles do wish the best to all and that you will enjoy all of our candles. God Bless.

The Dream Maker now carriers Celestial Candles! See our Store page for details.

Transformations (an experience with Elizabeth Jenkins)
By Wanda Gail Campbell 1998

I stood side by side in a line of about ten people with my back to the murky green-brown lake. I was encased in an expanded bubble of refined energy feeling alive and quite "light". I heard the instructions to slowly allow the tailbone to extend a "root" into the water. My logical mind said I cannot do this, the water is dirty. Quickly, Spirit responded. In my mind's eye, the lake was transformed. It became crystal clear and blue like the sun on a sapphire. There were pristine snow-covered mountains surrounding it. I was alone. The hot muggy Alabama summer air momentarily felt crisp and cool to me as the turnip-like root began to extend into the lake. The silent siphoning of pure water started a cold wet trail up my spine and into my head. As it entered the head, it spiraled clockwise. First, it seemed to cool the brain.

From the head it descended like a sheet of fine misty waterfall to softly cleanse all the body's cells. My entire body tingled. No part of my being felt untouched. With the cleansing complete, I reluctantly returned to the outer world. Once again I became aware of my companions on this incredibly unique sojourn of kindred spirits. We resumed our journey along the Green Mountain Nature Trail. We appeared the same in the sight of our physical eyes, and yet, the lightness of our steps, the brightness of our smiles, and the glow in our eyes indicated we are forever spiritually altered from our shared uncommon experience.

My Weekend with Elizabeth and Pachamama
By Betty Jacks

I have always been close to the Earth, spent a lot of time outside, and wanted to learn the secrets and mysteries of Mother Nature. In fact there was a time in my life where the way I survived for three years was to put my hands in, bare feet on, and sit on her while I played at gardening. I say play because I knew then that it was not the gardening as much as just being with her. I have had some other wonderful experiences ( rafting the Grand Canyon), but nothing like the weekend I spent with Elizabeth and Pachamama doing the workshop. I think it might have been the group energy, the combining of so many diverse personalities into one large, compassionate and loving family was very unique, in 48 hours. And although Elizabeth was the leader, she was also very much one of us and so real. The energy was so high and alive, that it vibrated through me so strongly that I didn't have to question, am I or am I not feeling what I think I am feeling. It was awesome and wonderful!

Some of the high points of the weekend were: learning to push friends up and down the path; melting into Pachamama until I didn't know who was who; the wind always showing up when you need her or to whisper her wisdom; the group ritual at the end; the communion with new and old friends; the hollow tree you could stand in as if it were a womb holding you; the tree limb that fell when we needed leaves to send our prayers on; and just the total awesome feelings of joy, love and peace.

There are a lot of things which impress me about the Andean spirituality but the two that make me feel the best and validate my belief system are that there is no good or bad energy and that you should give back for what you receive. It takes a lot of energy to fear, fight, and believe in something bad or evil, it is a lot easier to deal with some things being heavy. I know that it is only a word difference, but the symbolism behind the words is so different that it causes our consciousness to react differently. I believe in responsibility and integrity, therefore if I take I must give back. I do not feel that the value of the gift is the focus, the feeling and way the gift is giving is what is important.

A Miracle Happened to me!
By Tani Webb

For those who don't know, I have an artificial hip. I knew it was in bad shape and needed to be replaced, but I had been putting it off.

On Saturday morning we went up to the park on Green Mountain. There is a small lake there that is about 2 1/2 miles around. Elizabeth said she wanted to walk around the lake. My heart fell. I thought "there is no way I'm going to be able to do that". She said "Don't worry Tani we will form an energy worm to help you." Energy worm ???? .... OHHHH _ Kay.... "I'll give it a try". Ron grabbed one of my arms and Yamile the other ( others assisted along the way).

Elizabeth told everyone to bring in their "refined" energy, move it forward, and to walk behind me. I could feel that energy lifting me and making me very light on my feet. I made it! A few days later I found out that I had also been walking on a broken Hip!!

The ceremonies were all very beautiful and moving. The work shop itself was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life.

My workshop experience
By Steven Berry

The sun ceremony was the most powerful and immediate for myself. I could sense the difference between heavy and light energy. I felt the heavy energy burning away to be replaced by the lighter refined energy. I also picked up on Images of a being in a gold head dress turning to the side trying to show me something. During the karpai ceremony where we exchange energy with everyone I felt a surge of energy beginning at my tailbone and going up my spine just before Elizabeth came over to receive my energy. I enjoyed the process of exchanging energy with everyone because each one was unique and surprising in its own way. I am realizing afterwards how little I do know about spirituality. I think the first step in learning is to admit you do not know anything.

Seeking
By Eileen

Seeking — I found a door. Elizabeth opened it and invited me to go through. I found a Tradition that has great meaning for me and meets my deepest needs as no other has done. The principle of Sacred Reciprocity feels so RIGHT! For me, that weekend was a validation, a healing, and a major point of choice/change in my life. I am no longer an emotional orphan.

Living Better
By Cheri

One of my friends asked me what I was going to "use" this information for — like you would a workshop on a computer program or writing poetry ... after giving it a few moments of thought, I replied that I was going to live better with it! That question helped me understand how much I had gained from the realization that I could just live and "go with the flow" and connect to the earth energy, accepting and dealing with things as they happened. This was not a new concept, but I've never been able to put it in practice the way I have since the workshop with Elizabeth.

I am going through an important transition period in my life now that much of my life was spent planning how I could "avoid". As the weeks go by, I feel myself opening more and more to all of life, able to take what I can use and give a whole lot of "heavy energy" to Pacha Mama! From time to time the loving energy that was created in our group returns like a warm blanket and I know we're connected through Pacha Mama. Yes, I'm sure there is much more to come from all this, but right now I'm living better with it!
